Digital Organizing Package
A digital organizing package compiles all of your digital photos and videos from your phone, computer, cloud service, CDs, memory sticks, etc. into one streamlined photo library. I use screen sharing technology in order to work with your photos right on your own computer. I remove exact duplicates and organize your collection into year/month folders. Your organized photo library will then be stored on your external hard drive and in the cloud service of your choice. You will have access to your entire photo library from your computer or cloud service app, such as Amazon Photos. We will go over how to maintain your photo library going forward in our wrap up call.
Steps for a Digital Organizing Package
Please list all of the photo sources you plan to include on the booking form. Phones, computers, external hard drives and cloud services such as Amazon, Google, and OneDrive are common photo sources. We will go over how to transfer CD and memory stick files onto your external hard drive in our initial call, these items won’t count as a photo source. I recommend using a 2TB hard drive that is less than 5 years old. If you don’t already have an external hard drive you will want to purchase one.
During our initial call we will decide on your cloud service, I am happy to make a recommendation. I will have you download your selected cloud service’s app on your phone so that you can begin uploading your camera roll there. Then, I will remote into your computer and install a few software programs that I will use later to organize your photos. If you have an external hard drive (EHD) I will begin compiling your photos into folders by copying them from each of your photo sources. If you have CD’s or memory sticks/cards, I will show you how to add those to your EHD by doing a few for you. Your homework will be to copy the rest onto your EHD and let me know when your camera roll has finished uploading.
This step begins once all the photos are compiled. I use software to scan the image of each file for duplicates, not just the file names. If you have more than one copy of a picture I will keep the highest resolution version.
During this step I use the metadata of the files to sort them into year/month folders. Files missing metadata will be sorted into a separate unknown dates folder. Then your finished photo library will be backed up to your cloud service.
This is the fun part, where I walk you through your new photo library and show you how to access it from your EHD and cloud service. We will talk about how you can maintain your photo library going forward and answer any questions you may have.

No. We will go over how to transfer memory sticks, memory cards, and CD’s to an external hard drive so that these don’t count as a photo source. This will be assigned as homework after our initial call.
You will need an external hard drive, I recommend the 2TB size for most clients. We can work with an external hard drive you currently own as long as it has enough storage space. If your external hard drive is more than 5 years old I recommend purchasing a new one.
Photos will be secured in multiple backup locations. During our initial call we will discuss the best cloud service for your specific needs. I will work remotely on your external hard drive to organize your collection and will back a copy of your completed photo library up to your cloud service of choice. We can also save a copy directly to your computer if storage space allows.
The screen sharing software I use is designed and built on highly-secure protocols, offering the same type of online security features that are used in banking. You must authorize access and once the screen share is closed I will no longer have access to your computer.
Yes! I complete work in batches. Just keep your computer plugged in and open. I will communicate with you via text if I need to open a new remote session.
Every client is unique, but most have their wrap-up call in 4-5 weeks. Some factors to consider are your internet speed, the speed of your computer, the number of photos in your collection and the speed at which you complete your homework after our initial call.
